Dear all,

Welcome to my Blog.

Having been brought up in Bristol, I’ve always had affection for the word “Maritime”.

The word rolled of the tongue easy for me as a child. Before I knew the meaning, I imagined the word as a special chocolate bar. It was something that can be enjoyed anytime.

This was the industry I wanted to be a part of.

Formal educational years in the 1970′ s and early 1980′ s were somewhat disruptive. I came to the quick conclusion that my career will have to start with manual labour.

My father worked on the docks and let me know of an opening. In 1988, I gained a job. Within 6 months the Conservative government had fired the Dockers, and strike action followed.

Flexibility merged with skills base training gave me over 30 categories of employment. These include Fork lift trucks, Front end loaders, Excavators, Bulldozers. I can handle them all safely, professionally, and productively.

Gaining a Supervisory position in 2006 was more challenging as I had expected. The extra work hours and overtime potential gave my family and I an opportunity to visit Vancouver. To see vessel’s waiting to be serviced and having nearly 18 years within the industry inspired me to seek emigration. I was a Marine Supervisor and Docker with equipment experience. I also had vessel knowledge. I was convinced I would carve a career for myself in BC.

Emigrating in 2012 at with only hopes and 4 suitcases I took any job. Three months in country I got the job as a Superintendent and here is where I continue to learn.

My goal is to start a consulting business in Supervisory, Junior management Waterfront foundation.
With 37 years of maritime experience, I can instruct simple technics to build confidence, boost self esteem and gain respect. Leading within this industry is challenging, with a solid foundation a successful career can be developed.
